- What is Proper?
- A UK supermarket barcode scanner. It gives three answers: whether the pack is actual food, whether it will sit well when you only want a few bites, and a same-shelf swap.
- Is this medical advice?
- No. Proper is a shopping tool. It does not diagnose or treat anything. Talk to a clinician about your own health.
- How many scans are free?
- Five full verdicts, lifetime. Failed or not-found scans do not count. Proper+ unlocks unlimited scans, swaps, and an offline UK slice.
- Do I need an account?
- No.
- Where does product data come from?
- Open Food Facts. We add the verdict on top.
- What does “Inferred from pack, not tested” mean?
- The pack type is inferred from the packaging listed for that product. Nothing is lab-tested for particles or chemicals.
- Why is a yogurt Proper and a pouch not?
- Short lists you could read out loud, versus a run of flavourings and sweeteners. Swaps always stay on the same shelf.
- Does it work offline?
- The free tier needs a connection for the long tail of products. Proper+ includes an offline slice of popular UK packs.
- How do I restore or cancel?
- Restore on the Proper+ screen. Cancel in iPhone Settings → Subscriptions.
- A product is wrong. What now?
- Suggest a correction on Open Food Facts and it improves for everyone. For app bugs, use the contact form on our Support page.
- Do you sell my data?
- No. Your preferences stay on the phone.
